The IAP Cornell Workshop on the Future of AI in the Cloud is Scheduled on Friday, May 15, 2026 on the Cornell Campus.
Participants will include faculty, postdocs, students, industry scientists and engineers. Participating companies include AMD, ByteDance, Futurewei, IBM, Marvell, and Micron. Cornell Faculty presenting their research include Prof. Robbert van Renesse, Prof. Rachee Singh, Prof. Jiaxin Lin, Prof. Giulia Guidi, and Prof. Hakim Weatherspoon.

Bringing together researchers, practitioners, and community members, the three-day convening will tackle AI's core problem – its massive carbon footprint, displacement of local expertise, and violations of community consent – through collaborative workshops, participatory algorithm auditing, and solution-generating discussions.

The Summit will bring together leaders in research, industry, and the public sector to explore the foundational perspectives shaping the future of AI. Join researchers from the Cornell University’s Global AI Initiative and University of Cape Town’s AI Initiative for a virtual symposium exploring responsible AI for the Global South. The symposium will focus on opportunities for collaboration across AI safety, African language technologies, governance, and measurable societal impact, with the goal of developing joint research projects that move quickly from discussion to action.
